Children
Self-Discipline
We begin with self-discipline.
We help our children develop self-discipline through our unique 3-step process.
Step 1 Understanding it – Through class discussions and stories our instructors teach our children the meaning and benefit of having self-discipline.
Step 2 Practicing it – During classes, our instructors help children to face and overcome challenges, soon they start to discipline themselves and begin to achieve on their own.
Step 3 Applying it – Once our children successfully develop self-discipline in our school they begin to use it on the outside in everything thing they do, such as school and sports.
Self-Defense
While teaching self-discipline, we also teach our children the art of self-defense. Never undervalue this important life skill. Children today face more bullies and negative peer pressure to take drugs and alcohol then at any time in our history.
This is why at Lone Star Black Belt Academy, we teach a realistic self-defense system that combines karate, kickboxing and submission grappling, so children learn to defend themselves in virtually any situation, whether they are standing up or on the ground. They also learn conflict resolution and when they should and shouldn’t use their skills.
Studies have shown that...
Children who learn self-defense become more assertive and less aggressive.
Children who know how to defend themselves usually don't have to, because they carry themselves in a more confident manner, and confidence alone is a deterrent to bullies
Self-Confidence
Being Self-confident means – your child believing in himself / herself.
This is easy to do when your child has…
-The self-discipline to achieve goals
-The self-defense skills to back him / her up so he / she doesn’t have to feel intimidated to stand up for what he / she believes.
Respect
Respect is making sure they answer with "Yes/No, Sir", "Yes/No, Ma'am", do things the first time they are asked, making eye-contact, use integrity, and a simple bow onto the mats saying, "Yes Sir I can!" (This is a personal promise from the student saying that they will do their own personal best on the mats during class.)
Serious Stuff?
If this sounds like serious stuff…don’t worry! Our children’s classes are taught in a safe, fun and exciting environment, where students are not compared to each other, but rather progress at their own pace. The competition is “from oneself to oneself”.
Adults
Here are 5 reasons every Adult should be enrolled in Tae Kwon Do:
1. Tae Kwon Do helps you lose weight:

Our work-outs are a great way to help you shed those unwanted pounds. Additionally, you'll reshape your body. Your arms, legs, and waistline are going to become more toned.
2. Improved Health:
Our Tae Kwon Do classes will dramatically improve your cardiovascular health. Your resting heart rate will come down and your ability to maintain an increased heart rate will increase. You'll breathe better, sleep better and even feel an increase in energy and effectiveness all day long.
3. Positive Attitude:
Our programs are designed to be positive and inspirational. We'll keep you motivated and thinking about progress and goals. Our staff and students are all success oriented and focused on looking for the good in all situations.
4. Self-Confidence:
It's true, adults who take Tae Kwon Do develop better self-confidence. You'll be encouraged to take chances, to push your self further than you ever thought possible. The success you experience through our program teaches you that you can be successful at anything you truly believe you can. You're improved self-confidence will help you deal with all of life's challenges with a more positive, "Yes, I Can!" attitude.
5. Self-Defense:
Tae Kwon Do teaches two forms of self-defense. One is physical, you will improve your strength, flexibility and overall health. Additionally, you will learn to strike with tremendous power and effectiveness. Hopefully, you'll never need to fight. but should the occasion arise, shouldn't everyone know how to protect themselves? The second form of self defense Tae Kwon Do teaches is internal. Our students learn to spot danger and avoid dangerous people, places and activities. Tae Kwon Do can help you avoid the need for a physical confrontation. This second form of self-defense is perhaps the most valuable of the two.

He also has life experience from one of his most favorite people in the world, his sister, who has Downs-Syndrome. Beyond teaching karate, to give an outlet to his special needs students, he was involved in coaching many other events for the local Special Olympics during his entire high school career.
